Our Mission

Evergreen Middle School for Urban Exploration is a joyous, kind community where all stakeholders are excited to enter the school everyday. We develop independent, critical thinkers who are prepared to dismantle systems of oppression and navigate the world with empathy and integrity. 

Our Vision

We work collaboratively with all stakeholders to offer:

  • An inquiry-based exploration of Bushwick and the larger community in order to honor the culture and history of where our students live and to expose students to other communities and cultures

  • An advisory program that provides the social and emotional learning opportunities that students require in order to be their best selves, both socially and academically

  • Hands-on and project-based learning experiences grounded in promoting social justice and social awareness

  • Opportunities for student voice, including: giving students choice in their academic tasks, instituting student cogens, creating various student councils, administering student surveys, inviting students to sit on leadership teams, student choice in clubs.
